The 1st First Couch Stories Story Slam !

Theme of the Night: Coincidence
21 June 2017, The Boathouse

THIS COUCH STORIES STORY SLAM WAS A TOTAL EXPERIMENT

We wondered what would happen if we created a completely spontaneous storytelling event.

What if we did none of the usual shoulder-tapping and coaching? What would happen if anyone could get up on stage and tell a story - as long it was true, personal and on-theme?

Well, on the night, eleven men and women signed up at the door to tell their story on the theme of "Coincidence" and to compete for the cash prize of $100.00 for the best story of the night.

Filling the warm ambiance of The Boathouse, Nelson were nearly one hundred people keen to listen to true, personal stories .

We heard about remarkable philanthropic coincidences, gumboots lost and found,
doctors and childhood accidents and finding old friends in the most extraordinary of places.

The night was such a success that we are already plotting the next Couch Stories Story Slam!
